Big Mouth Theatre had a great time celebrating their first birthday during their Half Term Holiday Workshop at Marchwood Village Hall, when children from local schools worked together to put on a production of ‘Mary Poppins’ for an audience of family and friends at the end of the week.
In just five days, the children helped to create scenery, props, and costumes – together with learning lines, songs and choreography. On the final day, New Forest East MP, Dr Julian Lewis and local councillor, Ron Vango Fisher came along to wish the company a happy birthday, and of course, to assist with the eating of birthday cake! Dr Lewis expressed his enjoyment, saying “The whole event was tremendous fun, and the children excelled themselves with a great performance.”
The children presented their show to their families, displaying the skills that they’d learned during the week. Clare Bates, a parent from Foxhills, thoroughly enjoyed watching her daughter perform; “What a fantastic week Pippa had, and today’s performance was the icing on the cake!” Holly Clarkson and Adrian Woolner, the founders of Big Mouth Theatre were extremely proud of all the children involved; “They’re such a great bunch of kids” Holly explains. “Each holiday workshop that we’ve provided, the children have brought tons of enthusiasm, and they’re always making new friends!” “It’s a fantastic way to spend a holiday, so look out for us this summer as we’ll be looking for mischievous street urchins for our Summer Workshop of ‘Oliver!’”
