Joanna Bennington

Jo has always had a love and passion for the Performing Arts.  Ever since a young age, Jo has taken every opportunity to participate in any and every performing art; from tap-dancing as a toddler to acting in school productions, singing in local church events and taking on more challenging roles on professional stages such as The Theatre Royal in her home town of Bury St Edmunds and the Kings Theatre, Portsmouth.

Since graduating from the University of Portsmouth with a BA Hons in English and Creative Arts, Jo has gone on to teach and lead a number of Performing Arts groups in Portsmouth. Most notably Jo planned, launched and ran the Kings Youth Theatre for over eight years; developing it from its origins to a 120+ strong young company of actors.

As a youth theatre leader for more than 10 years, Jo has seen just how exciting and empowering the Performing Arts can be to young people. “I have always wanted to ensure that drama and theatre provides a safe and supportive environment.  To help encourage a child who never wanted to speak publicly, to perform their very first lines on stage is priceless.”
